My Cat Sam made friends with a black squirrel, should I interfere or let then do what they do, I don't want ..

the squirrel to bite Sam or give him dezecesMy Cat Sam made friends with a black squirrel, should I interfere or let then do what they do, I don't want ..
i'd be more worried about the risk of injury than disease - while any mammal CAN carry rabies, squirrels aren't high on the list of carriers. in fact, they're pretty darn low. (rabies is transmitted thru bites, and frankly, squirrels don't respond well to injury. if a squirrel is going to get bitten by something sick, it's not likely to live long enough to actually catch the disease.) most other diseases are species-specific, they don't cross over to another type of animal.

BUT squirrel bites are ferociously painful (i've been bitten when fostering orphans) and even if the squirrel is nice, it's still a wild animal and has the potential to do some real harm. i'd hate to see the kitty get hurt, so i'd probably limit their friendship to just being able to see each other thru the windows. My Cat Sam made friends with a black squirrel, should I interfere or let then do what they do, I don't want ..
that's cute. i don't think the squirrel will do anything to harm Sam since they are friends. And i don't think you would be able to keep them apart since you can't follow Sam when he's outside unless you lock him inside. He will see the squirrel if he wants to.

Let them be and if you ever feel that something is wrong or you notice a change in Sam's behavior then take him to the vet immediately. Check Sam's body for marks when he comes in from play time with squirrel.
Awwww, how cute! If the squirrel hasn't harmed your cat so far, he probably won't, and as long as your cat got shots, it should be fine. It's great that your cat made friends with a squirrel!
be careful that the squirrel doesnt have rabies. when they dont run away they usually are sick. have your cat checked by a vet.NOW
LOL I have heard it all! I am not sure what to suggest to u.I do know that some squirells can carry disease and rabies!! I think its totally awesome that ur cat has adopted a friend!LOL my cats never step outside. So if they seen a squirell they would prob freak or eat it.U could call ur local shleters and animal control and ask them how many animals have been found with rabies this year and in what areas.Id hate to know Sam got sick from his new play pal.But OMG id luv to see pics.
hes makeing freinds now to have fresh tender young squirrles later
thats cute!!!!!! don't break them apart! you cant really do anything anyway.
Wow tuff question and good point. Sounds harmless but the chances of rabies are high. Make sure your kitty has all his shots and he should be fine. Sounds like hes not a prejudice cat, loving all creatures. :^) Take lots of pics sounds cute, if it truly bothers you you can call someone to have the squirrel relocated. Good luck.
