The black squirrel was seen in North London UK. Not canada or USA..WOW?

And no its not been sunbathing!! LOLThe black squirrel was seen in North London UK. Not canada or USA..WOW?
I live in a ravine area on the East side of Toronto. We have all different coloured squirrels here. There are brown squirrels, with grey ';guard'; hairs (longer, courser hair that protects the softer waterproof fur underneath). Some of them are real cute with cream coloured patches behind their ears. One even has a cream coloured saddle across it's shoulders.

Then there are the truly gray ones. These are usually the largest. The black ones are about 1/3 smaller than the grey ones. They actually look like runts compared to their bigger cousins.

And then the red squirrels are just ADORABLE! They are only half the size of the black ones, with tails that look like red bottle brushes (thin and spiky like them). And no, I'm not getting them confused with chipmunks, because those are half the size of the already small red squirrels, and have stripes down their sides to help with camouflage. The black squirrel was seen in North London UK. I live in Texas and black squirrels are rare, but they are around.
It's definitely a rat then!
There were no black squirrels in southeast Michigan until after the year 2000...and now the suburban Detroit area is riddled with them. Go figure.
I have seen them in Michigan. They are cute. What's the problem?
Yep..........answered someone elses question about this...check out the BBC website below!
i used to live in a different part of Canada and all we had were red or brown squirrels. Now I see them black, grey, black with red tails, etc. But I have never seen an all brown or all red one since I moved.
i've seen black squirelles in Minnesota, Georgia, Texas, and Albino squirells as well... so, there nothing special
Yes, its a grey squirrel, but its 'melanistic' (a different colour to what you'd expect.) There are also white squirrels and badgers. Its rare but not unheard of.
All we have in Ohio America are brown ones that clim ur trees and drop half eaten fruit and not even eaten fruit their a pain and make the dogs bark all the time. I guess they changed color from a type of new tree so they ken blend in better?
